Techiman North to roll out strict school code of conduct; chiefs warn against interceding for errant students

The Techiman North District Assembly is introducing a new code of conduct for schools in the area, aiming to curb student misconduct and improve academic performance. The initiative was unveiled at a meeting at the Akumfi Ameyaw Senior High School, where education officials, traditional leaders, parents, teachers, and students gathered to discuss the new guidelines.

District Chief Executive Adom Kwabena Johnson explained that the District Education Oversight Committee developed the code as a response to the growing problem of indiscipline in schools across Ghana. Johnson believes that implementing the new framework will lead to better academic results, as discipline is crucial for creating a conducive learning environment.

The traditional ruler of Aworowa, Nana Yeboah Kokwa III, while endorsing the draft guidelines, warned against enforcing the rules selectively and cautioned against interference from influential figures such as the clergy and prominent individuals. The District Assembly expects the new code to take effect across all schools in the district once accepted, with monitoring teams and headteachers being trained to enforce it.
