Sport : Zen Hong, Eliza Named Best Athletes of Selangor SUKMA 2026

In the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2026 closing ceremony held in Shah Alam, Pahang shooter Cheah Zen Hong and Selangor swimmer Eliza Tan were named the top male and female athletes of the event. Cheah, 20, secured nine gold medals and one silver, surpassing his personal best of seven golds from Sukma 2024. Tan, 19, won all seven events she competed in, setting a new national record in the women's 100m freestyle with a time of 56.78 seconds and breaking the championship record in six other events.

Both athletes received RM5,000 in prize money, commemorative trophies, and a challenge trophy at the event's conclusion. Cheah's achievements improved upon his previous performance at Sukma 2024, while Tan became the first Malaysian female swimmer to record a sub-57-second time in the women's 200m freestyle event. Selangor swimmers dominated the tournament, claiming 20 gold, seven silver, and 11 bronze medals at the Selangor Aquatic Centre, putting them ahead of the federal territories, who amassed 51 gold, 54 silver, and 52 bronze medals.
