Sicario 3 Is Happening 'Soon,' According to Josh Brolin

Josh Brolin has confirmed that Sicario 3 is indeed in the works and will soon begin production, according to a recent interview with Screen Rant. When asked about the highly anticipated film, Brolin confirmed its existence but provided few details about the project. Notably, Denis Villeneuve, who directed the first Sicario, is not expected to return, as he is currently working on Dune: Part 3 and a James Bond film.

Villeneuve's departure has led to Stefano Sollima taking over as the director for the third installment, though the latter did not have the same impact as the first film, which lacked the nuance and unsettling direction that made the original so memorable. The possibility of Benicio del Toro rejoining the cast has not been ruled out, but it is unclear if he will reprise his role or if the film will feature other returning cast members.

Taylor Sheridan, who wrote the first two films, is collaborating with longtime Mission: Impossible writer/director Christopher McQuarrie on Sicario 3, though the specifics of their involvement remain unclear. Sheridan, known for his work on other Paramount shows, may be lending his skills as a script doctor to the project, while McQuarrie's involvement could potentially bring his experience in reworking scripts to the film.
