Samsung SDS to build AI-ready network for Seoul National University

Seoul National University is set to revamp its campus network in order to support extensive artificial intelligence (AI) research and transition towards an AI-focused campus environment. Samsung SDS has been awarded the contract to redesign the university's network platform, which spans across 243 buildings and caters to approximately 50,000 students, faculty, and staff.

The new infrastructure promises network speeds of up to 800 gigabits per second, facilitating the swift transfer of large data volumes necessary for AI research and education across the campus. Additionally, the project will incorporate logical network segmentation for heightened security measures and network automation to boost operational efficiency.

The upgraded system primarily benefits students by ensuring more consistent connectivity in classrooms, laboratories, and libraries, while minimizing delays and interruptions. Researchers and professors will also experience a more reliable transfer of large AI training and research datasets over the higher-bandwidth network, according to Samsung SDS. Furthermore, IT staff will benefit from automated tools for device authentication and management.
