Rivers: Everything must not be tied to politics, Wike – Fubara on detecting fake workers

Rivers State Governor Siminalaye Fubara revealed on Monday that he identified fake workers in the state who had used their six-month bank statements as proof of employment. Fubara warned that nothing in the state should be connected to politics, and mentioned that his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, had also found that only genuine workers were receiving salaries after an investigation by his administration.

At the inauguration of the Omademe road in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Fubara announced that a commission had been established to verify workers' employment status. He explained that they had discovered a bloated salary payroll, and the Local Government Service Commission was working on the issue, but they decided to keep the commission ongoing.

Fubara stated that they commissioned a team to investigate the problem, which had been an ongoing issue, particularly in Emohua Local Government Area where the Chairman was reluctant to pay salaries. Fubara instructed the team to examine the past six months of bank statements to confirm genuine workers. He emphasized that he is not against people in the state being employed, but they should be hired legitimately.

Fubara insisted on doing the right thing and ensuring that only genuine individuals were employed to fill vacant positions. He reiterated that everything about Rivers State must not be tied to politics, politics, or himself and his successor, Nyesom Wike, and encouraged people to be objective and focus on facts.
