Quebec Conservatives promise to balance provincial budget within four years

Montréal - The Conservative Party of Quebec has pledged to balance the province's budget within four years if they are successful in forming the government in October. Leader Éric Duhaime outlined his plan, which centers on controlling spending growth, reviewing government programs, and modernizing the government. The party unveiled an economic platform with four initiatives aimed at modernizing Quebec.

Besides balancing the budget, Duhaime targets building a more competitive economy by reducing the tax and regulatory burden on businesses. The Conservative Party also intends to spearhead a historic reduction in the tax burden on individuals to reward hard work. Duhaime's team has previously announced a reduction of $47 billion in government spending over five years.
