Qatar maintains 98.4 score in ITU's 2026 ICT Development Index

Doha, Qatar - Qatar has secured a top score of 98.4 out of 100 in the 2026 International Telecommunication Union's ICT Development Index (IDI), maintaining its strong position in global digital development. According to the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), this achievement highlights Qatar's advanced digital infrastructure, high-quality telecommunications services, and ongoing digital transformation efforts.

The report praised Qatar's exceptional performance across various digital connectivity indicators, achieving a perfect 100% normalized score for internet usage among individuals, household internet access, mobile broadband subscriptions, and 3G/4G network coverage. Additionally, the country recorded another perfect score for mobile phone ownership. The meaningful connectivity score reached 96.7, demonstrating strong connectivity performance.

Qatar's ITU score remained unchanged from 2025, when it also achieved a score of 98.4. This score has remained steady, having increased from 97.8 in 2024 and 97.3 in 2023, as per the latest ITU report. With a global average of 79, Qatar's score places it above the majority of economies assessed, with 59 out of 159 scoring between 90 and 100. The highest score recorded was 100, while the lowest was 25.

While the ITU's 2026 index covers 159 economies based on universal and meaningful connectivity pillars, it is important to note the study's limitations. The IDI does not account for aspects like fixed-broadband penetration, internet speed, digital skills, and online safety and security.
