Police investigate after 5 bodies found in rural area outside Portland, Oregon

Five bodies were discovered on a rural property outside Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, according to authorities who are treating the incident as a quintuple homicide. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle fire at the property in Forest Grove, located approximately 30 miles west of downtown Portland.

Upon arrival, responders found the remains of five individuals and several domestic animals. Detectives do not believe the incident was a random act of violence, but have not provided many details. No arrests have been made, and no one is currently in custody. The ages, genders, cause of death, and possible relationships among the victims remain unknown.

Detective Shannon Wilde, with the sheriff’s office, stated that determining the identities of the victims presents a significant challenge due to the complexity of the investigation and the large crime scene. Sheriff Caprice Massey called the situation "one of the most complex" she has encountered during her 22-year tenure with the agency, urging anyone with information about the property or its residents to come forward.
