Peshawar High Court rejects juvenile’s bail plea in gang rape case

Peshawar High Court has denied bail to a juvenile accused in a gang rape case, according to prosecutors. The single-member bench, led by Justice Dr Khurshid Iqbal, stated that the offence was non-compoundable and of a heinous nature. The accused, arrested in April 2026, had claimed juvenility and compromise with the victim as grounds for release.

However, the court noted that the accused was over 16 years old at the time of the incident, based on his Nadra record. The victim, a divorced woman, alleged that the accused, along with two others, raped her and recorded the act. She also claimed threats to disclose the incident. The court previously rejected a bail plea on merit and a different gender-based violence court in Swat had also denied the bail petition.

The victim's brother, present in court, stated that they did not want to pursue the bail petition. The bench ruled that the alleged compromise between the applicant and the victim could not be used as a basis for granting bail at this stage.
