Patna-Gomti Nagar Vande Bharat’s window damaged after stone pelting in Bihar, case lodged

A Vande Bharat Express window sustained damage following a stone-pelting incident on August 23 in Bihar, according to the Danapur Division of East Central Railway. The collision occurred around 6:40 am near Bihta Station. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) promptly arrived at the scene and registered a case against unidentified individuals under Section 153 of the Railways Act.

The investigation is underway, with CCTV footage from the train and surroundings being collected and analyzed. Authorities have intensified joint patrolling by the RPF and Government Railway Police in the area to deter future incidents. Stone pelting on trains is a criminal offense under Sections 153 and 154 of the Railways Act, 1989.

Between July and December 2025, 1,698 such cases were registered, resulting in the arrest of 665 people. The Ministry of Railways has warned of severe legal consequences for those involved in stone-pelting incidents.
