Ogoni oil talks: MOSOP alleges secret drilling, demands halt

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni (MOSOP) has accused the Federal Government of conducting secret oil drilling in Ogoni communities. MOSOP claims that talks are ongoing to resume oil exploration, but the organization is concerned about reports of corruption and compromised leaders involved in the process. MOSOP is demanding the publication of the names of 40 Ogoni youths employed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, alleging that foreign nationals were inserted into the list.

The organization stated that they were unaware of any forced re-entry into Ogoni communities, calling such actions a betrayal of the dialogue process. MOSOP also expressed alarm at preliminary oil production operations in Ban-Ogoi and Alesa-Eleme areas, stating that such activities are in bad faith and betray the spirit of the dialogue.

The organization has warned the Federal Government and investors to be cautious of predators and advised against hasty agreements without proper due diligence.
