Liverpool told to fix major issue in the transfer market

Liverpool are being urged to address a persistent problem in the transfer market. The club's defensive midfield situation has been laid bare once again following their recent 2-2 draw at Newcastle. Daniel Sturridge highlighted the issue during a Sky Sports appearance, stating, "We’ve been talking about a defensive midfielder at Liverpool for the last three years."

Despite the addition of players like Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister, the team still lacks a specialist defensive midfielder. These players can pass and combine, but they are not the physical and positional presence needed to protect the back line. Sturridge further elaborated, "Liverpool don’t have that profile of player right now.

He’s not a destroyer. He’s not someone who’s gonna strike fear into the opposition like Sangare can, or like N’Golo Kante over the years." The transfer window may be closing, but Liverpool needs to make a clear and decisive move. A genuine ball-winner capable of reading danger, covering ground, and restoring order is what the squad requires.

The club must decide whether to rely solely on developing young players or finally address the defensive midfielder shortage head-on. Failing to do so could lead to further disappointing results, and supporters may lose patience with the club's approach to squad balance and recruitment.
