Gaining Ground

Upon my first encounter with this place, I felt as though I had arrived home. This emotion was not one of comfort and familiarity but rather a sharp, abrupt electric shock that brought about a profound change. The life I had previously lived seemed to disintegrate at the very moment of recognizing this newfound home. However, after the initial shock, the gradual adjustments and settling in came more slowly, rooting themselves deeply over time.

Although I initially retained a sense of distinction from my surroundings, the line between me and the environment eventually blurred, signifying my complete integration.

Spring arrived, bringing a bountiful blessing as I would not have been prepared for the impending winter if I had arrived later. The spring season provided me with an opportunity to reconnect with nature, witnessing the renewal of life, and my own joy. The cycle of life, from the delicate crocuses and snowdrops to the vibrant flowers, offered me a sense of purpose and tenderness.

As the summer approached, I engaged in various activities, such as working in the garden, tending to my plants and food, and inhaling the warmth of the sun. The long evenings offered a sense of accomplishment for each day's achievements.

As autumn approached, I marveled at the vibrant colors of the maple tree near my neighbor's farm, which stood out among my garden plants. The leaves transformed into a harmonious blend of yellow and orange, eventually falling and providing a perfect rite of autumn. In the winter, the snowfall was a surprise, initially tentative but ultimately persistent.

Despite the initial discomfort, I welcomed the snow, as it brought a stark contrast to the previous seasons. The snowfall signified the end of one cycle and the beginning of another, showing me the beauty in change.
