Kremlin says British missile help for Ukraine ‘adds fuel to the fire’

MOSCOW: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed strong disapproval on Monday of Britain's decision to provide Ukraine with classified information on British-made components for SCALP long-range cruise missiles. He labeled the move as adding "fuel to the fire" and described it as extremely negative from Moscow's perspective. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham had arrived in Kyiv earlier in the day for his first overseas trip as Prime Minister, with the aim of announcing British support to enhance Ukraine's domestic production of long-range missiles.

When questioned about the visit and the support provided, Peskov accused Britain of taking every possible step to hinder progress towards a peace deal. He stated that Britain was involved in the conflict on the side of the Ukrainian regime and was deliberately "adding fuel to the fire" while plotting schemes to obstruct any advancement in the peaceful settlement process.

Peskov disclosed that the Russian military was already systematically collecting data to pinpoint any potential missile production sites and subsequently destroying them. Moscow had previously warned London last week of potential consequences for supplying drones to Kyiv, alleging that Britain had increased its involvement in the war by using British-made drones for long-range strikes against Russia for the first time.

Burnham had earlier affirmed that the UK was fully committed to backing Ukraine in its "illegal war."
