Koalition der Willigen: Macron will Kampf gegen Russlands Schattenflotte verstärken

Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron intends to take a stronger stance against Russia's shadow fleet and hinder the import of raw materials. "I propose we convene a ministerial meeting in a few weeks to address the fight against the shadow fleet, ensuring action wherever we can," Macron stated during a "Coalition of the Willing" press conference.

France has already seized oil tankers suspected of being part of Russia's shadow fleet, which allegedly generate funds for the war economy. At the Ukraine-supporting meeting, Macron also called for preventing exports of gas, oil, and diesel to Russia through sanctions. Previously, Russia had not imported these raw materials, but now it does.

While it may be challenging to pressure countries like Belarus, some of the raw materials may travel through Swiss companies to reach Russia. Macron announced that the "Coalition of the Willing" exercise would occur in October and November, showcasing the coalition's readiness and ability to act once hostilities cease. The "Coalition of the Willing" plans to form a multinational force to assist in securing Ukraine's safety after the end of Russia's invasion.
