Kamal Haasan-Sarika To Arjun Rampal-Gabriella: Bollywood Couples Who Had Children Before Marriage

In August 1985, Sarika disclosed her first pregnancy with Kamal Haasan on the rooftop of Hema Malini's bungalow in Chennai. The couple, who were living together at the time, rented Hema's home in Tamil Nadu. Their daughter, Shruti Haasan, was born in January 1986. Two years later, Kamal and Sarika married. Their second daughter, Akshara, was born in 1991, after which Kamal expressed his belief that marriage strengthened their parental responsibilities towards their children.

Arjun Rampal and Gabriella Demetriades followed a similar pattern. They lived together before marrying after the birth of their two sons, Arik and Ariv, in Goa on August 21. Mahesh Bhatt, one of Bollywood's most well-known celebrities, was the first to openly discuss his illegitimacy. He explained that marriage was created by man and society to legitimize procreation.

Despite his boldness, Mahesh remained within the bounds of traditional marriages, with all four of his children born during this period. Bollywood has seen numerous instances of love children over the decades, with iconic figures like Rekha reportedly being a result of an affair between Gemini Ganesan and Pushpavalli. However, the majority of Bollywood celebrities highly value the institution of marriage, believing it is their duty to ensure their children do not face the stigma of being illegitimate.
