In desperate bid to find missing son, man enters Delhi drain as rescue ops continue

In a desperate search for his missing 15-year-old son Mithun, Awadhesh ventured into a drain in Southeast Delhi's Jasola area on Sunday, just hours after a massive rescue operation commenced. The incident unfolded on Saturday when Mithun fell into the fast-flowing waters while attempting to catch a kite. Despite the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), and various other agencies joining forces in the search, no trace of the teenager was found.

The drain's strong current and thick vegetation posed significant challenges to the rescue teams, prompting complaints from the family and local residents who accused the authorities of negligence and criticized the reliance on wooden poles for the search. The search continued until the evening of Sunday, with Awadhesh's desperation reaching its peak as he joined the ongoing effort in the treacherous waters, hoping to bring his son home.
