Harry steps down from controversial African wildlife charity

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, has resigned from his position on the board of African Parks, a wildlife conservation organization in Africa. This move comes as Prince Harry prepares to return to the UK with his family, including his wife Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet. The charity acknowledged in the past year that its rangers had engaged in human rights abuses, including beating, raping, and torturing indigenous people in the Odzala-Kokoua National Park in Congo-Brazzaville.

Despite this, Harry remains committed to conservation efforts in Africa and is actively supporting African Parks. The charity reported in 2025 that they had improved their safeguarding processes. The Sussexes are set to establish a permanent residence in the UK, following their departure from the working monarchy six years ago. Meghan is reportedly exploring acting opportunities, while discussions about their specific plans for life in the UK have not been confirmed.
