GES opens WAEC portal for 2026 school placement data submission

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has ordered Junior High School heads to upload candidates' school selection data for the 2026 placement process onto the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) portal. The portal will be accessible from August 24 to 27, 2026, according to a directive signed by GES Director Prince C. Agyemang-Duah.

Headteachers must complete the upload by the end of their workday on August 24 before entering the data on the WAEC portal. The WAEC portal permits the use of the same school ID and password across multiple computers, enabling schools with many candidates to upload data simultaneously. Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education, along with Examination Coordinators, will oversee the process to ensure all eligible candidates' data is accurately captured, verified, and submitted within the deadline.

Regional Directors of Education are responsible for notifying schools and enforcing compliance. This step is part of the preparations for placing candidates into second-cycle institutions for the 2026 academic year.
