Frogfoot to expand township fibre roll-out after major fundraising-round

Frogfoot Networks, along with Vox and Hypa, have recently secured new equity and debt capital, effectively quadrupling the company's rollout capabilities. The combined entity, a subsidiary of Vivica Group, is valued at R14.4 billion. The transaction, advised and funded by RMB, a division of FirstRand, will increase Frogfoot's fibre rollout to connect 360,000 homes annually within a year's time.

This accelerated growth will create over 5,000 direct jobs in previously underserved communities, particularly townships. The primary investor group is the DNI Consortium, including DNI 4PL Contracts, JSE-listed Sabvest Capital, Masimong Group Holdings, and Draper Gain International. Hypa Fibre, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vox, will be integral to the expansion.

CEO Abraham van der Merwe, along with CFO Gert Koen, will oversee the expanded operations, which now cover network infrastructure, consumer and business connectivity, and broadband services. The additional funding will significantly bolster the companies' ability to expand into lower-income residential areas and townships, addressing the digital divide by enhancing access to education, financial inclusion, remote work, and micro-enterprises.
