Four labourers killed by unknown assailants in Balochistan's Pishin district

Four laborers working on a road in Balochistan’s Pishin district were killed on Tuesday by unknown assailants. The attack occurred in the Sulemanzai area, close to the Quetta-Chaman Highway. According to Shahid Rind, a political aide to the Balochistan Chief Minister, one of the workers sustained injuries and was taken to the district hospital along with the bodies.

Police and security forces arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. An anonymous senior police officer stated that the laborers were targeted while they were working on the construction site, with armed men arriving on motorcycles and opening fire. The victims were believed to be from Punjab and had come to the region in search of employment.

This incident marks the second attack in the area within three days. On Friday, armed men destroyed a police station in Saranan town, surrounded it, took hostages, and planted explosives before detonating them. No one was killed or injured in this attack, although the station sustained significant damage. The recent surge in violence has led to a dramatic increase in security-related deaths across Balochistan, with a 933% rise in security personnel deaths and an 93% surge in civilian fatalities, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies’ monthly security assessment.
