Former Child Star Raquel Lee Files Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Disney

Former child actress Raquel Lee Bolleau has recently filed a civil negligence lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company, alleging that she was sexually assaulted while working on the 2001 Disney Channel Original Movie "The Poof Point" when she was just 14 years old. According to the lawsuit, an adult, middle-aged male employee of Disney, involved in the film's production, allegedly repeatedly raped, sexually assaulted, abused, and harassed the young actress over several weeks.

The accuser allegedly supplied Bolleau with alcohol, leaving her exhausted, intoxicated, or ill on set. Both Disney and the film's director, Neal Israel, allegedly instructed the teen to "bond with, get close to, and trust" the accused, despite the numerous inappropriate behaviors. The lawsuit claims that Disney authorized sexual harassment on set, permitting sexually explicit jokes, commentary, fondling, and excessive touching from the accused.

The lawsuit also alleges that Disney failed to take any action to curb the accused's inappropriate behavior. Raquel Lee Bolleau, known for her roles in "The Poof Point" and for voicing Nubia on "The Proud Family," has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. In 2024, she participated in the docuseries "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV," where she detailed her troubled experience on "The Amanda Show."

Raquel Lee Bolleau's lawyers, Douglas Wigdor and Jane Kim, stated in a statement to TheWrap that countless child actors have come forward to share their experiences of abuse by adults in entertainment, and urged the industry to hold those involved accountable for their actions. TheWrap has reached out to Disney for a comment on the allegations.
