FDA Intensifies Checks On Dairy Products From Neighbouring States

The Madhya Pradesh Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has intensified its efforts to monitor the interstate transport of substandard dairy products, particularly mawa and milk cake, originating from neighboring states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Following the Maharashtra FDA's crackdown on milk and dairy adulteration, suppliers have reportedly increased their shipments of these products to Madhya Pradesh, prompting the state's FDA to initiate a more stringent inspection process.

On Monday, the FDA carried out a thorough examination at the ISBT and Nadra bus stands in Bhopal, targeting the movement of these dairy products. As part of the operation, around 316 kg of mawa and milk cake, with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 78,000, were seized by FDA officials. The mawa consignment, labeled under the name of Arihant Dairy, Bhopal, amounted to 150 kg, while the milk cake, registered to Lovely Sweets in Sabzi Mandi, weighed 166 kg and was valued at Rs 33,000.

FDA Chief Officer Shivraj Pawak expressed that the intensified checks were conducted in anticipation of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations and aimed to curb food adulteration while ensuring safe food products reach consumers. A special focus was placed on mawa and milk cake being transported from Nagpur to Bhopal. At Nadra Bus Stand, one consignment was seized due to suspicions of adulteration or inferior quality, and samples were collected for further testing.
