Dhruv Jurel on ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ celebration: ‘Those are my roots’

In a tense wait of 13 balls, Dhruv Jurel reached his second Test century, celebrating his milestone by unveiling a tattoo on his left bicep that reads "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan." The 25-year-old revealed that the tattoo honors his grandfather, a farmer, and father, a soldier, who are his roots. Jurel dedicated his century to his parents, crediting their unwavering support for his journey.

Having previously celebrated his 50th Test score with a salute to his father, Jurel dedicated his 100th to the Indian Army, acknowledging the challenges faced by soldiers on the battlefield. The wicketkeeper-batsman's partnership with Rishabh Pant played a crucial role in India's performance, making his batting approach easier as Pant's aggressive play likely caused bowlers to make mistakes.

Jurel, who was on 95 when rain forced an early tea break, admitted to feeling pressure when he reached 99, but decided to take a single after finding a gap in the field.
