Business : WCE Holdings Sees Potential Benefits From Proposed Southern Link Extension

PETALING JAYA — WCE Holdings Bhd remains uncertain about the viability of the proposed Southern Link extension of the West Coast Expressway (WCE), stating that the company requires full details from the government before conducting a thorough study. Chief Executive Officer Lyndon Alfred Felix emphasized that the toll concessionaire is awaiting comprehensive information to determine the project's viability.

Felix told a press conference following the 25th WCE Holdings Annual General Meeting 2026 that a southern extension would bring additional traffic to the existing WCE network, benefiting the company. However, Felix urged the government to provide adequate support to address the rising construction costs and land acquisition challenges, which he deemed significant risks to the project.

The Ministry of Housing and Local Government announced on April 9 that they plan to explore two major highway projects under a privatization model, including the proposed Southern Link of the WCE and a road linking Simpang Pelangai in Pahang to Putrajaya.
