Breaking Down the Ending of Spooky in Love

In the finale of Spooky in Love, the supernatural powers of protagonist Cheon Yeo-ri (Park Eun-bin) are revealed to be a result of a tragic yacht accident that occurred 12 years prior to the start of the series. Yeo-ri was not born with the ability to see ghosts, but rather developed it after nearly drowning in the accident that killed her boyfriend, Kang Ji-hwan (Kim Min-chul), and Min-hwan's little brother, also named Kang Ji-hwan (Kim Min-chul).

This condition has caused Yeo-ri to be constantly haunted by the spirits of the deceased, who seek help from her and isolate her from the living world. Wearing a protective pendant given to her by Ji-hwan's grandmother, Yeo-ri's supernatural abilities intensify due to her family's immense wealth and influence. Chairwoman Baek (Ye Soo-jung) plans to pass the Reina Group, a powerful hotel chain, to Yeo-ri instead of her step-daughter or children.

Yeo-ri's sense of justice, combined with her desire to protect the hotel and resort company, leads her to form a fake engagement with Gang-uk (Yang Se-jong) to keep her grandmother at bay. However, when it is revealed that Yeo-ri's ability to see ghosts is tied to the life she owes to the afterlife, Gang-uk's connection to the late Jin-hwan (Kim Do-wan), his mother's desire for revenge against his brother Min-hwan, and the lingering presence of the ghost of murdered woman Jang Eun-ju (Yoon Hye-rim) all contribute to the final battle for Yeo-ri's love and the fate of her company.
