Bogota Will Be the Ibero-American Capital of Cultures in 2027

Bogota has been selected as the Ibero-American Capital of Cultures for 2027, a prestigious title awarded by the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities (UCCI) for its commitment to using culture as a means of social transformation. The Colombian capital's nomination emphasized the city's rich cultural diversity, vibrant artistic initiatives, and its dedication to fostering social and urban change through creative means.

The Ibero-American Capital of Cultures designation is an international recognition that highlights the role of the chosen city in advancing cultural policies, promoting creativity, and creating spaces for interaction among diverse communities. It is granted annually to one city within the UCCI, a network comprising 29 cities from 24 countries. The title aims to spotlight the cultural wealth, heritage, and artistic projects of the selected city, as well as to strengthen ties with other Ibero-American capitals.

For Bogota, being named the Ibero-American Capital of Cultures presents a unique opportunity to elevate its international profile and forge new connections with artists, cultural managers, institutions, and local governments across Ibero-America. The designation could also help catalyze cultural tourism and increase the global visibility of the city's artists and creative projects.

This recognition will coincide with the second edition of the International Art and City Biennial (BOG27), an event designed to further bolster Bogota's presence in international art and cultural circuits.
