'Bhashini' Breaks Language Barriers At UP-Japan Investment Summit With AI Support

Lucknow, August 24 - Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's guidance, Uttar Pradesh uses technology and innovation to become a top global investment hub. At the UP-Japan Investment Summit 2026, the AI-driven multilingual platform 'Bhashini' broke language barriers, aiding smoother communication between Indian and Japanese investors.

Partnering with Invest UP and the Government of India's Bhashini, the technology powered by real-time speech-to-text and translation enabled delegates to understand discussions in their preferred languages. Chief Minister Adityanath's Hindi address was instantly translated into Japanese via Bhashini's 'Shrutlekh' feature, and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw's English speech also received real-time Japanese translation.

This technology significantly boosted communication and engagement among Indian and Japanese participants. The government aims to transform Uttar Pradesh into a global investment destination, with the summit exploring opportunities in manufacturing, clean energy, semiconductors, innovation, skill development, and tourism. Bhashini, operated by Digital India Bhashini Division under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, currently supports 36 Indian written languages, 23 Indian voice languages, and 35 international languages.

The successful deployment of Bhashini at the summit showcases Uttar Pradesh's commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive digital communication and stronger economic ties with Japan.
