Belanjawan 2027: Pihak berkepentingan cadang inisiatif kempen miliki rumah, prasarana EV

Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming announced a range of proposed initiatives for the 2027 budget during a meeting with over 350 stakeholders from various sectors. These proposals, discussed during the KPKT's Budget 2027 Budgetary Commitment Session, encompass enhancing building management systems, reviving the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC), and providing infrastructure for electric vehicle testing.

Minister Nga emphasized that all suggestions would be scrutinized based on feasibility, priority, and financial capacity. He stressed the importance of ensuring every ringgit allocated not only saves more but also delivers tangible benefits and impacts to the public. The minister also proposed establishing a Command Centre to support smart city agendas, offering incentives to boost recycling rates, and creating green financing mechanisms to encourage investment in technology and waste management solutions.

Additional ideas include increasing annual subsidies for volunteer fire stations, providing health facilities to address challenges faced by rural communities, and upgrading urban infrastructure to support safe city initiatives. KPKT plans to hold a discussion with the Finance Ministry on September 3rd to explore how these proposals can be integrated into their considerations.

Thus far, out of six significant initiatives under this year's budget, five have surpassed their set targets, while one is on track to reach or exceed its goal by the end of the year. As of July 31st, 304 non-Muslim religious establishment projects were completed, surpassing the target of 200 projects. Similarly, 102 Madani Street Market and Upgraded SME projects were executed, exceeding the target of 60 projects.

In terms of expanding planting and catchment systems, 154 projects were carried out, meeting the target of 150 projects. Meanwhile, public housing development at local authority sites saw a remarkable 734% increase with 367 projects completed, far surpassing the initial target of 50 projects.
