Belagavi MLA Abhay Patil injured in Delhi car accident, out of danger: Police

Belagavi MLA Abhay Patil was among six individuals injured in a car accident that occurred in New Delhi on Sunday night, August 23, 2026. The incident involved a hatchback that veered off the road, crossed a divider, and collided with an SUV carrying Patil and Anil Jha, an MLA from Delhi's Kirari constituency. The accident took place near the Public Works Department (PWD) office under the jurisdiction of I.P. Estate police station in central Delhi.

Patil and Jha were traveling in the SUV when the accident occurred. In the other car were Ashutosh Pandey, his wife, and their two children. Emergency responders, including police and fire brigade personnel, swiftly arrived at the scene to provide assistance. The injured were immediately transported to Loknayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital for treatment.

According to reports, all those injured in the accident sustained minor injuries, and none of them were seriously harmed. Their health is currently stable. The police conducted an inspection of the accident site and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident, as reported by the Delhi police in a press release.
