Ballon d’Or 2026: Top 5 ranking for August

Score 90 has released the August 2026 Ballon d’Or rankings, with Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé leading the charge. Mbappé's stellar performance during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America played a significant role in his rise to the top spot. He scored 10 goals and provided four assists, leading France to a fourth-place finish in the tournament. Additionally, Mbappé became the first player to win the Golden Boot awards in LaLiga, the Champions League, and the World Cup within the same year.

Barcelona's Lamine Yamal follows Mbappé in second place. His contributions were crucial in Barcelona's success, as he helped the team secure LaLiga and the Supercopa de España titles. Yamal was also instrumental in Spain's World Cup campaign.

Harry Kane of Bayern Munich rounds out the top three. The English striker scored 73 goals for the club during the 2025–26 season, contributing to their domestic double and advancing to the Champions League semi-finals. Kane also played a pivotal role in England's third-place finish at the FIFA World Cup last year.

Completing the top four is former Manchester City midfielder Rodri. He was awarded the 2024 Ballon d’Or and was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2024 FIFA World Cup. Rodri, now playing for Barcelona, also won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup with Manchester City during the same year.

Rounding out the top five is Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. Haaland scored seven goals in his debut FIFA World Cup for Norway and added to his impressive tally with the Carabao Cup and FA Cup victories with Manchester City. He finished the 2025–26 season with a total of 38 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions.
