49ers Owner Jed York Arrested in Ohio
York spent one day in jail.
Mayor Trent Conaway of East Palestine, Ohio, spoke to USA TODAY Sports about a human trafficking sting that resulted in the arrest of San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York. Conaway, who also works as a logistics coordinator for a trucking company, noted that the arrest came on the heels of the 2021 train derailment in the town, which exposed residents to toxic chemicals during a cleanup process.
York pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges after his arrest on August 23. His initial charge of engaging in prostitution was reduced to disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. Local detective Daniel A. Haueter, who works with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, explained that human trafficking has been a priority in the area, with over 1,000 arrests made in the state since 2019.
Conaway praised the work of Detective Haueter, stating that the town is proud of the arrests made and the individuals taken off the streets.
