27-year-old man seriously hurt in Samut Prakan home blast

On 23 August 2026, a 27-year-old man suffered serious injuries when an explosive device detonated outside his home in Samut Prakan. The incident took place late that evening near Talat Thammasarot Road in Samrong Nuea subdistrict. Prakan Rescue Center was alerted by a report of the man's injury and dispatched rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation.

Upon arriving at the scene, rescuers found Wuttipat Kitcharoen, the injured man, suffering from multiple shrapnel wounds and experiencing heavy blood loss. He was lying on the ground in severe pain and required urgent medical attention. The scene was littered with objects scattered by the force of the explosion, and police found remnants of an explosive device, including black tape believed to have been part of it.

While a CCTV camera from a neighboring property did not capture the blast, its microphone recorded the loud noise, startling several local residents. The man's grandmother, who had been washing dishes downstairs at the time, heard a powerful explosion and saw flames inside the house. She claimed she did not witness the exact cause of the explosion, as she was preoccupied with her tasks.

Another resident, identified only as Yui for privacy reasons, witnessed the injured man hitting something before it came into contact with an object below, causing the explosion. She noted she did not see anyone throwing anything into the area. Police have cordoned off the scene and are examining evidence to determine whether the blast originated from outside or was caused by an explosive already present in the house.

A preliminary theory is that the injured man may have been carrying the explosive, which detonated after he fell or struck something. However, this remains only a preliminary assumption pending further investigation. A friend of the injured man also sustained minor injuries. Police have initiated the process to question all witnesses and individuals present at the scene to establish the exact circumstances of the explosion and ascertain the cause.
