23-Year-Old Woman Dies As Lack Of Road, Bridge Delays Medical Aid In Remote Nandurbar Village

In a remote village nestled within the Satpuda hills of Nandurbar, a tragic incident unfolded as a 23-year-old woman named Rusabai Subhash Valvi lost her life due to delayed medical aid. The young woman, who was residing at her maternal home in Vehgi-Baripada, suffered severe chest and abdominal pain on Friday afternoon. Despite her condition rapidly deteriorating, the absence of proper infrastructure proved to be a fatal obstacle in reaching a hospital in time.

The ambulance that was dispatched could not make it to her village due to the lack of an all-weather road and a bridge over the Suka River. In the absence of direct road access, her relatives and neighbors resorted to creating a makeshift stretcher using bamboo and a bedsheet, attempting to carry Rusabai towards Pimpalkhunta, where she was to receive medical treatment. The journey across the river and through challenging terrain, however, resulted in significant delays before she could finally reach the hospital.

Tragically, Rusabai succumbed to her injuries before she could be treated by medical professionals. Her loss has left her family and the villagers deeply saddened, and they are left wondering what could have been done differently to save her life. The incident has caused a renewed conversation about the availability of basic infrastructure in the region, with many questioning why such critical necessities continue to be lacking despite repeated development promises.
