Yemen, US officials meet to discuss ‘countering Houthi propaganda’

On Sunday, Yemen's Minister of Information Moammar al-Eryani and the US Embassy's chargé d'affaires in Yemen, Neal H. Opdahl, convened a meeting to address the issue of Houthi propaganda. As reported by the US Embassy on X, the discussion centered on the importance of countering Houthi lies and misinformation with accurate information in the ongoing battle. According to the US diplomat, this is a crucial aspect of strengthening ties between the two nations and combating Houthi disinformation.

The Yemeni minister expressed optimism, stating that his country's leadership presents a genuine opportunity to deepen relations with the US while simultaneously countering the false narratives propagated by the Houthis. The meeting took place amidst ongoing threats from the Iran-backed Houthis, who continue to launch attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

Earlier in the day, the Yemeni government retaliated against Houthi targets across multiple locations through drone strikes. The Yemeni government media reported on these strikes, and several videos shared on social media depicted the Houthis' reactions to the attacks, showing explosions targeting gatherings, movements, and barracks belonging to the rebel group.
