Umno kaji sentimen akar umbi sebelum tentu kerjasama PRN Melaka, kata Zahid

Presiden Umno, Zahid Hamidi, has announced that the party is conducting in-depth research into the grassroots sentiment ahead of determining political cooperation with the PRN Melaka, according to Zahid. The president noted that the grassroots sentiment remains mixed, and therefore, the party needs to study the views of its members and supporters before making a decision.

"The grassroots sentiment is mixed. So, we are conducting thorough research," he said after attending the World Islamic Exhibition and Trade Fair 2026 (Witex) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL). When asked about the grassroots sentiment, he urged against entering a dead-end or a place where fish and bones cannot survive.

Meanwhile, Zahid confirmed that Umno will send a representative to the PAS National Annual Muktamar No. 72 after receiving an invitation from the party. "We will definitely send a representative to the aforementioned muktamar," he said. Earlier today, PAS Chief Secretary Takiyuddin Hassan informed Umno that they had sent invitations to Zahid and three other party leaders to attend the muktamar later in the month.

The PAS National Annual Muktamar No. 72 is scheduled to take place in Kelantan on September 4, with a grand public rally organized by President Hadi Awang.
