In an interview with Europa Press, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the leader of the People's Party (PP), has urged the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, to declare a state of confinement in Ceuta due to the "health risk" posed by infectious diseases like measles and tuberculosis. These diseases have been detected following the massive influx of over 70,000 illegal migrants into Ceuta at the end of July.

Feijóo spoke of a meeting he had with the president of the College of Doctors and the president of the Nurses' College from Ceuta, who informed him about the situation in the hospitals and emergency services. The officials reported that there have been cases of tuberculosis, measles, and over 450 instances of gastroenteritis, as well as a few instances of chickenpox.

Meanwhile, thousands of migrants continue to occupy the streets of Ceuta three weeks after the mass entry on July 30th. The central government, along with the autonomous communities, is preparing the shipment of vaccines to prevent diseases and is working to establish reception facilities.
