Thunderstorms and strong winds expected across several regions Sunday

The National Center for Meteorology has issued a forecast predicting thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds in various regions of Saudi Arabia on Sunday. According to their daily report, southern and western areas such as Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha are expected to experience thunderstorms with hail. Rain-bearing thunderclouds may also form over higher elevations in Madinah, Makkah, Najran, and the southern parts of the Eastern Province and Riyadh. Strong winds capable of raising dust and sand are anticipated to persist in these regions.

Coastal areas along the eastern Saudi Arabian coast, including parts of Tabuk and Madinah, may see the formation of fog overnight and early in the morning. In the Red Sea, surface winds will range from northwesterly to southwesterly, blowing at speeds between 10 and 35 km/h, with occasional gusts reaching over 50 km/h during thundercloud activity.

Wave heights will vary from half a meter to one and a half meters, occasionally exceeding two meters during thunderstorms, creating slight to moderate sea conditions that will likely become rougher with the storms.

In the Arabian Gulf, winds will blow from a northwesterly to northeasterly direction at 10 to 25 km/h, with wave heights between half a meter and one meter and slightly calm sea conditions.
