The acquired data comprises an estimated 100 million emails, 500 million Microsoft Teams messages, tens of millions of code lines, and various operational logs, spreadsheets, and calendar entries spanning Spirit's operations.

Google aims to utilize this dataset to enhance its commercial offerings and train artificial intelligence models. The acquired information will undergo thorough anonymization, ensuring no customer or personally identifiable information is included.

The acquisition underscores a growing trend in the AI sector, where developers are shifting focus from publicly scraped web content to authentic internal records that provide a more accurate representation of how modern enterprises operate. Internal communications, software code, and administrative documentation enable AI models to learn how employees collaborate, make operational decisions, resolve complex problems, and carry out routine tasks.

The final approval of the transaction remains pending, pending a hearing rescheduled to September 9 after the Spirit flight attendants' union lodged an objection to the deal.
