Serena Williams to play mixed doubles with Carlos Alcaraz at U.S. Open

Serena Williams will make her U.S. Open return in mixed doubles competition, paired with defending men's champion Carlos Alcaraz. This will be her first competitive match at the U.S. Open since 2022. Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion and six-time U.S. Open winner, last played at the tournament in 2022. She won the mixed doubles title in 1998 with Max Mirnyi.

For the U.S. Open, Williams will team up with world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Other mixed doubles pairings include Serbia's Novak Djokovic with Jessica Pegula, and Taylor Fritz alongside fellow American Jessica Pegula. In June, Williams made a return to doubles play alongside her sister Venus at the Cincinnati Open, but they were eliminated in the first round in their first tournament together since 2022.
