Salah scores first two Trabzonspor goals

Mohamed Salah's debut performance for Trabzonspor was nothing short of impressive, as he netted two goals on his first Turkish Super Lig start, just a few games away from matching his goal tally at Liverpool. The 34-year-old Egypt forward departed Anfield via a free transfer, leaving behind 257 goals in nine years, and joined Trabzonspor on a two-year deal worth £280,000 per week.

Despite initial expectations of a move to Saudi Arabia, Salah opted for a different destination, ready to put his talents to the test in Turkish football.

Salah entered the game as a substitute, having previously made appearances off the bench against Kasimpasa last weekend and starting against Ferencvaros in their Europa League play-off first-leg defeat. His debut against Istanbul Basaksehir was nothing short of goal-scoring, with the left-footed winger finding the back of the net after deflecting the ball past goalkeeper Muhammed Sengezer.

Trabzonspor equalized through a penalty from Eldor Shomurodov, but Salah swiftly reclaimed the lead with a first-time shot from 10 yards out.

The veteran forward found himself on the receiving end of a yellow card for diving in the penalty area, just 11 minutes from the end of the match. In the dying moments, Salah believed he had completed a hat-trick when he scored from an empty net, striking the ball into the goal from 45 yards. However, the goal was disallowed due to offside, leaving Trabzonspor victorious in their opening fixture.
