Salah scores first two Trabzonspor goals

Mohamed Salah made his Turkish Super Lig debut for Trabzonspor and scored twice, bringing them one step closer to victory against Istanbul Basaksehir. The 34-year-old Egypt international departed Liverpool on a free transfer this summer, following a stellar nine-year career at Anfield during which he netted 257 goals. Trabzonspor had initially hoped he would head to Saudi Arabia, but opted for the Turkish club instead, signing a two-year contract worth £280,000 per week.

This marked Salah's third appearance for Trabzonspor, with previous outings coming off the bench in a win against Kasimpasa last weekend and a loss to Ferencvaros in a Europa League play-off first-leg clash. He showcased his scoring prowess early on, taking advantage of a deflection to score his first goal, followed by a powerful shot inside the post to add to his tally.

Basaksehir managed to equalize through Eldor Shomurodov's penalty, but Salah quickly restored Trabzonspor's lead with a well-placed shot from just ten yards out. The veteran midfielder received a yellow card for diving in the penalty area with 11 minutes remaining. Almost achieving a hat-trick in the dying moments of the match, Salah sent a powerful effort into an empty net from 45 yards. However, the referee ruled him offside, denying him the hat-trick.
