Pro-Israel Group Calls for Mark Ruffalo Boycott Until He Apologizes, Retracts ‘Antisemitic’ Ellison Remarks

Creative Community for Peace, a pro-Israel advocacy group based in Hollywood, has launched a boycott campaign against actor Mark Ruffalo in light of his antisemitic remarks against the Ellison family and the proposed merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery. The group demands that Ruffalo apologize and retract his statements until Hollywood withdraws its support for him.

Ari Ingel, the Executive Director of the organization, stated that Ruffalo's rhetoric has transitioned from criticizing Israel to disseminating extremist and antisemitic messaging. He argues that his criticism of the proposed merger increasingly links hostility towards Israel and Zionism with Jewish-associated wealth, media ownership, and oligarchic power, which he deems impossible to ignore.

The Creative Community for Peace asserts that Ruffalo should retract his remarks, apologize, and the Hollywood community should refrain from supporting him until he does so. Ruffalo defended his stance in a statement posted on X, arguing that his criticisms of the Israeli prime minister, military technology contracts, and their executives are not equivalent to criticizing Jewish people.

He maintains that the dialogue is not anti-Israel when discussing the actions of the Israeli government and its allies. The merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery has been deemed "antisemitic" by the company, who found Ruffalo's comments to be "a bridge too far."
