Mustapha Sakmud, the Minister of the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak), stated that the government is receiving requests from businesses and companies for more diesel quota for specific vehicle categories and is currently under review by the Finance Ministry. Hence, we expect the remaining 71,000 eligible vehicle owners in Sabah to submit their applications so they can utilize the additional 100 liters, and only then can we determine the actual required quota.

We urge around 71,000 vehicle owners in Sabah who are eligible to receive the additional quota to promptly submit their applications, according to a statement made during a program in Kota Kinabalu the previous day, as reported by Bernama. Additionally, Mustapha mentioned that the government is gathering diverse perspectives on the implementation of BUDI Diesel, and a detailed study will be conducted before any further announcements are made.

Previously, a report from Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan stated that approximately 120,000 four-wheel vehicle owners, including tractors and pickups in Sabah, are eligible to request an additional 100-liter BUDI Diesel quota from the extension of eligibility, but only around 49,000 have done so. He was also reported to have said that the government is expected to announce several enhancements to the BUDI Diesel implementation process within one to two months, particularly regarding the application process and eligibility requirements.
