Okoye, Okonkwo star in tough games

Nigerian goalkeepers Arthur Okonkwo and Maduka Okoye put on impressive displays for their respective clubs in recent matches, as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.

Okonkwo made a standout debut for Charlton Athletic, helping the Championship side secure a 2-1 victory over West Ham. The 24-year-old, who joined Charlton on a season-long loan from Wrexham just 48 hours prior to the match, showcased his composure by making eight crucial saves throughout the game. This came after Okonkwo left Wrexham, who decided not to include him in their plans for the new season, despite his significant contribution last year, where he made 39 appearances and kept nine clean sheets.

In Italy, Okoye earned Udinese a much-needed point in their Serie A opener with a 1-1 draw against Como. The 20-year-old goalkeeper made five crucial saves to prevent Como from securing a win, despite going close themselves with goals from Hassane Kamara and Anastasios Douvikas. This result marks Udinese's first point of the season after finishing tenth in the previous campaign.
