Norwegian King Harald’s health has ‘deteriorated’, palace says

Norway's 89-year-old King Harald V, the nation's oldest reigning monarch, is currently in the hospital due to a deteriorating health condition. The palace announced that his health has worsened over the weekend, with the monarch being treated for haemolytic anaemia. This condition arises from the rapid destruction of red blood cells, leading to symptoms like fatigue, paleness, and shortness of breath.

King Harald, who has been in hospital since Monday, is receiving antibiotics for a bacterial infection in his blood. He has responded positively to this treatment and is currently on sick leave for two weeks. His health issues have forced him to cancel his scheduled visit to the central region of Trondelag. Despite these challenges, the Norwegian public remains largely supportive of the royal family, largely due to King Harald's role as a unifying figure.
