New UK PM Andy Burnham to make visit to Kyiv on Monday: office

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham will travel to Kyiv on Monday for his first international visit since assuming office last month. This visit coincides with Ukraine's 35th independence anniversary and is aimed at providing strong support to Ukraine in its ongoing battle against Russia's invasion. Burnham has pledged to give Britain's full backing to Ukraine during this critical time.

During his visit, Burnham will meet in Kyiv and co-chair the Coalition of the Willing, a coalition of countries supporting Ukraine, marking his first meeting in this capacity. The French presidency has announced that the meeting will be held in a hybrid format, with some participants attending in person while others join remotely via video conference. Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin has confirmed he will participate remotely.

Burnham's visit to Ukraine comes in the wake of President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent trip to London. During Zelensky's visit, Britain announced it would share information regarding a new electronic jamming capability, dubbed "Stone Cloak," with Ukraine. This tablet-sized, military-grade jammer can hinder Russian air defense systems from tracking and targeting in-flight, according to Downing Street.
