Ndindi Nyoro begins nationwide political mobilisation ahead of 2027

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro cautioned President William Ruto that he too is a "retired president in waiting," urging caution as the country gears up for the 2027 General Election. Speaking in Kiriaini on August 23, 2026, Nyoro advised political leaders to conduct themselves properly as the election approaches. He stated, "And I also want to tell him, President William Ruto, you are a retired president in waiting."

Nyoro had previously remained silent on political developments ahead of the election but felt it was time to express his thoughts. He emphasized that leaders should prioritize Kenyan interests over engaging in political games. Amid growing political exchanges among contenders, Nyoro called for an end to personal insults, promising to stop criticizing former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, he directed his strongest message to Ruto, highlighting the importance of leadership, political restraint, and transitioning after office. This came after Ruto criticized opponents who judged his administration based on slogans rather than its record. The President defended his affordable housing program and urged young people to stay committed to the projects.

Ruto's remarks focused on his government's achievements, opposition's demands for a one-term presidency, and his plans to continue development initiatives. Nyoro's latest comments added a new dimension to the heated political discourse surrounding the 2027 General Election, as leaders openly discussed their future after leaving office.
