LASU probes missing results, extra-year controversy

The Lagos State University has launched an investigation into allegations involving lecturers who allegedly failed to upload students’ results, a situation that has reportedly caused delays in graduation and may result in additional years of study for affected students. The controversy erupted after claims surfaced on social media that over 100 students were unable to receive their results at the most recent convocation due to a lecturer's alleged negligence in uploading their grades from their 300-level courses.

Some of these students now face the potential for an extra academic year, not due to academic failure but due to the missing results. The issue gained further attention when an X user, @TheAjakeManger, reported that the problem extended beyond the initially disclosed cases and accused a department head of threatening affected students.

According to the user, more than 1,000 students across the 200, 300, and 400 levels of the affected department are currently facing similar academic complications. The LASU management acknowledged the complaint on its official X account, stating that they are actively investigating the matter. The National Association of Nigerian Students and the Joint Campus Committee have also initiated discussions with the university management to address the situation.

Affected students are advised to remain calm as the management assures that the issue will be resolved in the upcoming week.
