Khaled Nordin seeks audience with Johor Regent to clarify MAF and Mindef management issues

Kota Tinggi, Aug 23 — Malaysia's Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, is scheduled to meet with Johor's Regent, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, in order to clarify issues related to the management of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). The purpose of this meeting is to provide a clearer understanding of the matters at hand, including comments made by the Regent concerning the leadership of MINDEF and the Special Troops Command (RGK).

Speaking at a press conference following the Kota Tinggi Barisan Nasional Thanksgiving ceremony, Nordin expressed his belief that a clear explanation is necessary for the statement and decree issued by the Regent. He suggested that an audience between the two parties could potentially lead to improvements in the situation. On Tuesday, Tunku Mahkota Ismail decreed that all parties involved in the planning of the RGK's development should not deviate from decisions approved by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, for the benefit of certain interests.

Additionally, during the parade ceremony held to celebrate the 61st Anniversary of the RGK in Mersing, the Regent of Johor expressed his views on management issues within MINDEF and the leadership of MAF.
